Low-Sugar Take 5 Bar

If there’s one recipe you need to try, it’s this one. This better-for-you Take 5 copycat captures all the crave-worthy flavor and texture of the original candy bar, but without the sugar overload.

Named for its five main ingredients—chocolate, peanuts, caramel, peanut butter and pretzels—the classic Take 5 is the ultimate mashup of sweet, salty, crunchy and creamy.

Our version of this tried-and-true treat gives it a smarter (and dare we say, tastier) makeover.

Sticky-sweet dates stand in for caramel. Luscious peanut butter and that satisfying salty pretzel crunch all come wrapped in Oobli’s creamy and crunchy Let’s Go Nuts Bar, sweetened with sweet proteins instead of refined sugar. Ther result: a satisfying snack good for dessert, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a little treat, because you deserve it. 

Ingredients:

  • ~12 dates

  • 1 bar Oobli Let’s Go Nuts Bar

  • ⅓ cup peanut butter

  • ¼ cup pretzels, crumbled

  • ¼ cup peanuts


Directions: 

  1. Slice each date length wise. Remove the pits and open each date to create a flat surface. On a parchment lined plate or baking sheet, line the dates in a 3x4 rectangle. (Make sure they are touching to create one large rectangular base layer.)

  2. Pour the peanut butter on top and use a spoon to spread it evenly over the dates. Top with crushed pretzels and peanuts.

  3. Break your Oobli into pieces and place in a bowl with 1 tsp olive oil. Place in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, mixing in between, until fully melted.

  4. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pretzels and peanuts. Top with any remaining pretzel crumbs then place in the freezer for about 30 minutes to set.

  5. Cut into bars and enjoy!
